safe will be sentenced in the Supreme Court after the Magistrate declared her punitive powers too weak.

Gregory Lorenzo Nolen, of Friswell's Road Devonshire, pleaded guilty to breaking and entering the store, stealing and damaging the safe and possessing housebreaking tools, namely crowbar and a flashlight.

Insp. Peter Duffy said Nolen conspired with another person to break into Amaral's fruit and vegetable stand last Friday.

The safe contained $2,375 cash and $25,069.65 in cheques and other documents.

Nolen broke into the front door and removed the safe which he then took to his home. He left the cheques and $232 in the safe and spent $2,143 on cocaine between 4 a.m. and 6 p.m. the following day.

Police went to his home the same day and found the safe and documents.

Magistrate the Wor. Cheryl Ann Mapp sent the matter to the Supreme Court for sentence after seeing his lengthy record for breaking and entry offences. This was his second safe-breaking offence.
