Police say the stabbing occurred at about 12.30 a.m. yesterday in Bermudiana Road.

The man had been walking along Pitts Bay Road when he was approached by a motor cyclist who demanded money. "A brief conversation took place but no money was handed over,'' said Police spokesman P.c. Gary Venning. "The victim turned on to Bermudiana Road where he was apparently pursued by the culprit and stabbed in the body.'' Also yesterday, a visiting couple lost out after being confronted by an knife-wielding intruder in their Rosemont Avenue guest apartment.

The couple discovered the intruder when they returned to the property shortly before 1 a.m.

Said P.c. Venning: "The culprit fled the scene on being disturbed but apparently returned moments later as the victims went to report the incident to the reception.

"A quantity of cash, Christmas presents and clothing were stolen.'' In addition, Police say a robber attacked a 39-year-old Southampton man at about 6 a.m. on Saturday.

The victim was walking in the grounds of a Paget hotel when he was struck over the head and robbed of several items of jewellery.

He suffered facial cuts and abrasions, but did not need hospital treatment.

The incidents were the most major in another busy weekend for Police.

An American couple learned the dangers of getting lost in Bermuda.

They had stopped their livery cycle in King Street to ask directions when a man snatched a purse from the rear basket.

The would-be thief was detained by the person giving directions, but managed to escape and flee empty-handed before Police arrived.

Police spokesman P.c. Gary Venning said Friday afternoon's incident was under investigation.
