pressing charges against her father for indecent assault.

The girl, represented by Crown counsel Mr. Diarmuid Doorly, was 16 when the alleged abuse began. She claims her father sexually abused her four times between November 14, 1992 and January 15, 1993.

She told the court that last November 14 her father, whom she described as extremely strict, told her he had received a prank call from someone who said his daughter had been in the school changing room with a boy.

"He said the caller told him the boy was rubbing my back and he was putting his hand under my skirt,'' the girl said.

"He had his hand on my back and that was it.'' He thought the boy in the changing room was black and that he had taken her virginity, she said.

The girl's father "then told me that he wanted to see if I was a virgin. He told me to sit in the chair. I didn't want to but he sat me down.'' She said that at the time she was wearing her underwear and a T-shirt. After standing up, the girl said her father removed her underwear.

"My father then put each of my legs up on the arms of the chair and told me that he could send me to a doctor who would stick his finger in my vagina to see if I was still a virgin, but he said he wanted to check himself.

"I kept trying to pull my shirt down but he kept pulling it up.'' The girl added that her father said what he was doing and what he saw did not "turn him on'' or mean anything to him.

"He then took his hand and rubbed his finger against my leg while repeating himself about the black boys.'' She alleged that her father then put his finger into her causing her to jump up. "He then punched my vagina with his fist and again I jumped up. I wanted to pull my pants up but he wanted to do it.'' She said her mother and sister came home and nothing was said. The court also heard that on November 28 last year the same type of alleged sexual abuse took place.

"Afterwards, he took me in my room where we got on the floor while he prayed,'' she said. "He asked the Lord to forgive him for anything he did to make me feel dirty or bad.'' The girl told the court that her father asked her to go with him into her bedroom last January. Once inside, he gripped her face and told her that she had become ugly since she met black people.

The girl said her father then asked her if she had ever touched a man before.

"He pulled down his shorts and underpants. I turned my head and he told me to look. I didn't want to and he raised his voice so I turned my head to the other side.'' The girl said her father then took her hand and rubbed it on him. The case continues this morning.
