Trial dates set for alleged drug dealers
Nine alleged drug dealers were arraigned yesterday with all but one getting trial dates.
American Shombrerah Tiffana Thomas will be sentenced next Tuesday after she admitted importing $321,000 worth of heroin on January 31.
Thomas, 22, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, was remanded in custody.
Damon Kujai Simons and Jamel Tito Smith were released on bail and will be tried on July 24 for importing $95,175 worth of heroin.
The Pembroke pair deny charges they possessed with intent to supply, possessed drug equipment, and obstructed a Police officer.
Simons, 23, of First Avenue, was not charged with possession of cocaine, while Smith, 24, of West Park Lane, denied having it.
Mother and daughter Marva and Takiyah Rabain will be tried on July 17 for allegedly possessing $282,000 worth of heroin with intent to supply.
The women also deny possessing a small amount of cannabis and having drug equipment on January 25 at their Somersall Road, Smith's Parish home.
And Sandys pair Antwan Dwayne Darrell and Philip Michael Desilva will return on August 21 for trial on charges they imported and handled $45,000 worth of cocaine on January 11 and 12.
Darrell, 32, of Woodlawn Road, and Desilva, 45, of Wentworth Lane, were released on bail.
Jaha Akili Mallory will be tried on July 17 for allegedly importing 1.2 kilograms of cocaine and 139.9 grams of cannabis on January 15.
Mallory, 47, of Elliott Street, Pembroke, also denies possessing the drugs worth a total of $182,000 with intent to supply.
Finally, Jamaican Clifton Hopeton Morrison, of St. Ann's Parish, will be retried on July 10 on charges he imported cocaine on February 6, 1999.
