The warning came from Magistrate the Wor. Cheryl Ann Mapp after she fined the young mechanic $200 for possessing cannabis.

"Don't be so easily led,'' she told him. "I would suggest you don't put your livelihood in jeopardy.'' Robinson, of Rockland Crescent, Southampton, admitted possessing 1.44 grams of cannabis.

Prosecutor Sgt. Donald Grant said Robinson had told Police someone had given him the drug.

Police arrested the teenager at about 2 a.m. on August 20 last year after stopping a large group of motorists travelling at high speed in Spanish Point.

Robinson attempted to flee, and was seen reaching into his pocket, said Sgt.

A plant material found on him turned out to be cannabis, he added.
