Police urge public to slow down
Police have renewed an appeal to have motorists slow down and exercise caution on Bermuda's roads.
Drivers were reminded to use their seatbelts at all times and ensure children travelling with them are appropriately restrained.
Persons travelling on motorbikes were warned to fasten helmets and avoid making a third lane.
During the week of June 21 through June 28, there were 19 reported injuries resulting from collisions and 35 reports of damage-only accidents. Ten people were arrested on suspicion of impaired driving during that period and 23 vehicles were taken without their owners' consent.
Of those vehicles stolen, one was taken from Warwick; two each were taken from Southampton and Paget; three were taken from Devonshire and eleven were taken from St. George's.
Most of the vehicles removed were either auxiliary cycles or motorcycles. One car was also reported stolen. Four vehicles have since been recovered including the car.
Teenager hurt as bike and car collide
A 19-year-old sustained abrasions to her hand after her bike and a car collided on Middle Road in Sandys.
Both vehicles received moderate front-end damage in the accident, which occurred at the junction with Spring Benny Road.
According to Police the teenager was travelling west on Middle Road and the car was exiting Spring Benny Road when the vehicles collided at 8.15 a.m. on Monday.
"The rider of the motorcycle, a 19-year-old Sandys Parish woman, sustained abrasions to her left hand and back pain," said a spokesperson. "She was examined at the scene by EMTs before being taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. The driver of the car, a 35-year-old Sandys Parish woman, was not injured."
