Electronic goods stolen
Cash and electronic items were stolen from two homes on Thursday, according to Police.
A Wreck Road, Sandys resident reported thieves entered his home while unoccupied, making off with a Panasonic 42in flat screen TV, a Fijitsu laptop, an iPod and iPod docking station, a cordless phone, two BlackBerry Pearl cellular phones and a quantity of cash.
A burglary was also reported at a Loyal Hill Pass, Devonshire residence. Officers visited the scene at approximately 2.40 p.m.
Said a Police spokesperson: "On arrival officers spoke with the complainants who stated that sometime between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into the home while it was unoccupied. The culprit stole a quantity of cash."
Empty water tank closes school
Children at Dellwood Middle School were sent home early yesterday when the main tank providing water to the school ran dry.
A spokesperson for the school said that there was a store of water in other tanks but that that water had failed to feed the main tank. At press time, work was underway to restore the service. Operations at the school are expected to continue as normal today.
BlackBerry stolen
A Blackberry was stolen from a St. George's home on Monday.
Police were called to the Shell Point Road home where the complainant said that sometime between 5.30 p.m. and 9.30 p.m. that day, someone broke in and stole a green canvas bag containing a BlackBerry cellular phone as well as a quantity of cash, jewellery and personal items.
Biker hurt in truck collision
A Smith's man was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital with "suspected internal injuries" after his bike collided with a truck.
According to Police, the vehicles were travelling in opposite directions on Tulo Lane in Pembroke near the junction with St. John's Road shortly before noon on Thursday, when the accident occurred.
Said a spokesperson: "The rider of the cycle, a 54-year-old Smith's parish man, sustained lacerations and bruising to his legs and neck as well as suspected internal injuries. The male driver of the truck was not injured. The cycle was extensively damaged while the truck received moderate front-end damage."
