Bermudian trio arrested on drug charges in US
Three more Bermudians have been arrested in the US for drug possession and trafficking.
Jie Jovonne Stovell, 26, Jermaine Raheim Lewis Simmons, 27, and Kavon Chancey Hart, 21, were arrested on September 23 in Trenton, Georgia 99 miles outside Atlanta.
The men were arrested for two counts of illegal possession of a controlled substance and trafficking.
Stovell, of Hill Crescent, Pembroke, was also arrested for an obscured or missing licence plate.
Hart and Simmons are believed to be living in the Atlanta area, while Stovell graduated from Alabama A&M in Hunstville, Alabama last May.
The trio are being held in the Dade County Correctional Jail
These latest arrests come after two Bermudians were arrested last month for a similar offence.
Sanchez Smith and Shakai Darrell were arrested in Philadelphia on suspicion of drug trafficking.
Smith, 20, and Darrell, 25, were both en-route from Montego Bay, Jamaica, to Bermuda when they were apprehended by US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers.
The pair were found to have ingested a total 1.5 lbs of hash in 112 thumb-sized plastic pellets. The drugs are said to have a street value of $20,000.
