Dennis Rahiim Watson honoured in Brooklyn, NYC
Motivational speaker Dennis Rahiim Watson has again been honoured for his work with gang members in the New York City borough of Brooklyn.
Mr. Watson, who was presented with an award by Brooklyn's Chief Law Enforcement Officer and Kings County District Attorney, Charles J. Hynes, last August, has now had a day name for him.
Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz – the top politician in the borough – designated January 13 as Dennis Rahiim Watson Recognition Day in recognition of Mr, Watson's work as chairman of the National Youth and Youth and Gang Violence Task Force.
Mr. Watson is also chief executive officer of the Center for Black Student Achievement.
The proclamation read in part: "... I congratulate him on being duly honoured today for all that he has done to improve the lives of our youth – the leaders of tomorrow – and I thank him for making Brooklyn and beyond better places to live, work and raise a family."
