Devonshire man held

Police said the victim was stabbed twice in the abdominal area, but his wounds were not deemed life-threatening by staff at the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

The suspect was also taken to hospital where he was treated for head injuries and released.

Peniston charged Former Government Senator Llewellyn Peniston appeared at Magistrates' Court yesterday to face eight charges in connection with bankruptcy proceedings against him.

Peniston, of Rosemont Avenue, Pembroke, was charged with misleading a tribunal, fabricating evidence, three counts of giving false testimony and three counts of concealing assets worth more than $25,000 three years ago.

Teenagers mugged Two young teenagers became victims of an assault carried out by other teens.

Police spokesperson Evelyn James Barnett yesterday reported that the boys, aged 13 and 14, decided to get something to eat from the fast food restaurants in the Heron Bay Plaza, Southampton around 6.30 p.m. on Thursday.

As they were leaving, they were approached by two teens, one of whom asked them for some food.

When the 13-year-old boy refused, the culprit then allegedly threatened to slap him if he did not comply.

The culprit slapped the youngster who then handed him a slice of pizza.

Both boys were ordered to walk near the Railway Trail where the culprits summoned another youth.

The 14-year-old was then slapped and punched in the face before his money was demanded.

The offenders removed $5 from his pocket and then allowed both boys to leave.

Neither of the two victims suffered physical injuries.

The Western CID is investigating the incident and anyone with information is asked to contact the Somerset Police Station on 234-1010.

Visitor breaks leg A 48-year-old visitor suffered a broken leg following a single-vehicle road accident on Thursday morning.

Police said the accident occurred just before noon when the cycle rider pulled out of the parking lot opposite the Bank of Bermuda on Mangrove Bay Road in Sandys Parish and hit the curb.

Deadline extended Organisers of the Tom Pettit Memorial Award have announced that the deadline for the Thanksgiving Essay Competition has been changed from today to Thursday.

All entries must be delivered to the US Consulate General on Middle Road, Devonshire no later than 4 p.m. that day.

Woman beaten A Sandys Parish woman was reportedly attacked by another woman and four men early on Friday morning.

Police spokesperson Evelyn James Barnett said the 39-year-old victim called Police from Elliott Street around 3 a.m. after she had been involved in an altercation with the other woman.

She also told the officers she was then attacked by four men who allegedly beat her in the head with a piece of wood and a piece of concrete block.

Two homes burgled Two Pembroke residents recently reported the thefts of items from their homes.

One woman told Police that her Cherry Hill apartment was broken into early on Thursday morning.

The culprit entered her bedroom and stole cash from some clothing.

And a thief with something other than cash on his mind broke into a Rosemont Avenue home on Thursday night and stole three condoms.
