Fairmont Hamilton Princess earns AAA Four Diamond rating
The Fairmont Hamilton Princess has been handed a prestigious distinction — awarded to just over 1, 200 properties in the Caribbean and North America.
After 125-years of service, the hotel has earned the AAA Four Diamond Rating for 2011. The distinction is given to less than four percent of the 32,000 properties approved by AAA — a premier hotel rating programme. Norman Mastalir, Hotel Managing Director, said: "Everyone at The Fairmont Hamilton Princess deserves to be applauded. At a time when competitiveness among hotels in the global market is strong, this achievement is especially important."
He continued: "The Fairmont Hamilton Princess now joins The Fairmont Southampton in achieving the AAA Four Diamond Rating and I think it is noteworthy that it does so at a time when fewer North American hotel properties have been able to earn this distinction."
The hotel earned the rating following a $20 million property renovation and large investment in staff training. Improvements include the complete renovation of the 113-room Bermudiana House; as well as upgrades to the guest corridors, deluxe guest rooms and the Gold Lounge. In addition, the Windjammer II art gallery was added and hotel staff went through an intensive training programme.
Premier Ewart Brown said it was not only "wonderful news" for the hotel, but for the tourism industry as a whole. "A few years ago we asked our hotels to raise the bar and this is clear evidence that they've done just that," said Dr. Brown. "And this development is recognition that the investment into our tourism product is bearing significant results. The Platinum Period is truly upon us and the Four Diamond rating is tangible proof."
The Premier thanked and congratulated the Fairmont group, General Manager John Crellin and the employees — all of whom have worked to create a first class establishment. "Now the Fairmont Hamilton Princess will be synonymous worldwide for unsurpassed luxury and service," he said.
In order to gain this rare distinction, accommodations must be progressively refined and stylish, they must include an array of amenities, uphold a high degree of hospitality and service and pay attention to every last detail.
