Gazette story injunction decision is due today

A Supreme Court judge will today rule on whether The Royal Gazette can print information which Government wants to keep under wraps.

A hearing lasting almost two hours took place before Puisne Judge Geoffrey Bell yesterday afternoon after an application from Attorney General Kim Wilson for an injunction banning publication.

Senator Wilson was granted a temporary gag late on Tuesday evening and yesterday this newspaper contested her claim for a permanent ban, arguing that disclosure of the information would be in the public interest.

Solicitor General Barrie McKay and Huw Shepheard, from the AG's Chambers, appeared for the Crown and Jeffrey Elkinson represented The Royal Gazette.

Mr. Justice Bell is due to deliver his decision at 2.30 p.m. today.
