Last day for old $10 City parking vouchers

Parking voucher books prices will rise from $10.00 to $17.50.

Today marks the last day parking vouchers for the City of Hamilton will be sold at the old price of $10 by the Corporation.

Then the price for a book of parking vouchers will soar to $17.50 on Wednesday as was announced by the Mayor of Hamilton Sutherland Madeiros last month.

Following the controversial announcement, motorists quickly bought up many of the last parking voucher booklets leaving the Corporation of Hamilton no choice but to offer the new $17.50 booklets at a reduced price. City Hall has been selling these specially marked booklets since July 28 at $10 but with a limit of only one per person. Almost 700 booklets have sold as of July 30.

Throughout tomorrow, motorists will be able to purchase the reduced price vouchers at City Hall and use these until they run out without being penalised. Then starting on Wednesday, the new booklets, which will be distributed by Pitt and Co to all retail outlets, will be sold at the new price of $17.50.

The costs of city pay-and-display car parks, such as Bull's Head, Bull's Head North, Laffan and Elliot Streets, will remain the same at $5 per day and free on Saturdays.

Pay-and-display car parks at No. 7, No. 8, Cavendish and King Street will still be $1 per hour, and City Hall, Par-la-Ville, No. 1 and No. 5 car parks will remain at $1.25 per hour.
