Library guard, 67, is beaten
A security guard at the Bermuda Library on Queen Street was beaten up while on the job this week.
Police were called to the library at 4.45 p.m. on Tuesday.
A spokesman said: "It appears that a security guard on duty at the premises was involved in a physical altercation with an unknown man outside the library on Queen Street. The victim, a 67-year-old Pembroke man, sustained facial injuries and was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment.
"The assailant fled the area on foot; however the suspect, a 31-year-old St. George's man, was subsequently located and arrested in connection with this incident."
A spokesman for the Ministry of Culture and Social Rehabilitation, the department that oversees the library, said: "The Ministry and the Bermuda National Library wishes to express its concern for the security officer and our wishes for his safe recovery."
