The dead body of a man in his 50s was found in the Paradise Lakes area last night.

Few details about the finding were available at press time, however the body was found by a member of public around 8.50 p.m.

Marine Police were last night said to be searching the scene, but the investigation was still ongoing.

A Police spokesperson said: "Around 9 p.m. on Thursday, Police received a report of a body floating in the waters of Hamilton Harbour (in the vicinity of 'Paradise Lakes').

"The deceased is apparently a male in his 50s. Inquiries into this incident are underway. No further information will be released until the next of kin has been notified."
