Police offer public classes to explain their role and work
The Police are offering community classes to educate the public on how Police operate and the public's rights when interacting with them.
The classes are scheduled to take place during the first two weeks of June on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
A Police spokesman said: "We are looking to attract anyone from our community; including teens, parents, senior citizens, religious or community groups, government or private sector worker and guest workers."
The following topics are scheduled to be discussed:
• You and the Road (All relevant issues regarding vehicles on the road, collisions etc.).
• Police and the Law (How the Police conduct their duties and how it affects the public).
• Structure of the Police Service (The various units within the Bermuda Police Service).
• Explanation of the various forms used by Police and why the information required on them is important (Clearance and Death Certificates, Protection Orders).
Community Partners (The organisations that work alongside the Police Service to assist in reducing crime).
To reserve spaces, contact Dwayne Caines or Robin Simmons on 299 4291 or 299 4321 or email: PMR@bps.bm.
The deadline is May 28.
