Trio deny kidnap, wounding and firearm accusations

Three Sandys men who denied kidnapping, wounding and using a firearm to hold a man against his will, will face trial on November 15.

Kenith Clifton Bulford, 35, and Macray Angelo Bulford, 33, both of Beacon Hill, and Ashley Wellman, 30, of Cook's Hill Road, have denied wounding 25-year-old Dwayne Reid Anderson with intent to cause him grievous bodily harm on January 2.

The men also denied using a firearm in connection with the offence, depriving Mr. Anderson of his liberty and robbing him of $4,000 cash.

The three, who were represented by lawyers Saul Froomkin, Elizabeth Christopher and Charles Richardson respectively, had their bail extended and will continue to report to Police three times a week until the trial.

Yesterday also saw a number of other cases at the monthly arraignment's session, including that of Kenneth Eugene Thompson, 59, who denied corruptly offering $10,000 cash to Police officer Kevin Christopher.

Thompson, of School Crescent Lane, Sandys, also pleaded not guilty to attempting to pervert the course of justice between February 22 and August 29, 2009, by trying to get the officer to dispose of an investigation.

He was represented by lawyer Craig Attridge yesterday and the case will be mentioned again at next month's arraignment session on July 1.

Swayne Eulette Gibbons, 42, of Harlem Heights, in Hamilton Parish, denied the serious assault of Rowan Hallet on January 20. He also pleaded not guilty to a burglary at Ms Hallet's Hamilton Parish home and taking an Apple Mac book and power cord.

Gibbons, who was represented by lawyer Kenneth Savoury, will face trial on October 4. He was remanded into custody until then.

In another case before the court yesterday, 43-year-old Gerald Cameron Hall, of Olive Lane, in Sandys denied entering a home on Swiss Hill Road, St. George's, and causing the occupier Peri Trott bodily harm.

Represented by lawyer Rick Woolridge, Hall will face trial on August 30.

Foreign nationals Andrew Blatchley and Peter Sagos were also before the court jointly charged with conspiring to import cannabis into the Island between a date unknown and September 23 of last year.

Blatchley, 59, of Great Oak Drive, in Charleston, South Carolina, and Peter Sagos, 36, from Ottawa, in Ontario, Canada, denied the charges.

Blatchley was solely charged with money laundering the proceeds from drug trafficking and Sagos was charged with possessing proceeds from criminal conduct and assisting another person in criminal conduct.

Their case will be mentioned on August 24 and a trial date has been set for August 26. They were remanded into custody until then.
