Two men arrested in armed robbery probe

The Royal Gazette has learnt that two men have ben arrested in connection to an armed robbery in St, George's last Thursday.

Last night a Police spokesman said in a statement: "A 24 year old Devonshire man and an 18 year old St. George's man have been arrested in connection with an alleged armed burglary at a Slip Point Lane, St. George's residence on Thursday, July 1st 2010. Inquiries into the matter are ongoing and therefore no further information will be released at this time."

Three men last Thursday, July 1, busted into a Wellington Point Lane, St. George's residence – allegedly brandishing a gun and demanding cash. After the home invasion-style robbery the three alleged thieves fled on foot.

Witnesses claimed to have seen the three men running at full speed, towards the ocean, through the nearby St. George's boat yard. Speculation as to whether the men escaped via boat, led to the involvement of Marine Police, who searched the east end from the water while regular officers scoured the east end by land.
