One young man is 18, and the other 17. Both come from Warwick.

Three youths attacked barman Mr. Eric Easton, hitting him on the head with a steel bar.

One of them also held a knife to the throat of Mrs. Barbara Johnson, a customer waiting for a taxi.

She was released from King Edward VII Memorial Hospital after treatment for shock.

Mr. Easton was also due to be allowed home yesterday after receiving head stitches.

The robbers escaped with $1,023 from the till, and also Mrs. Johnson's handbag containing $250.

Club officials met yesterday to discuss increasing security. Another meeting is planned today.

Mr. Gary Fray, secretary and treasurer at the club, said in future customers would be forced to take off crash helmets.

There would also be a buzzer system for people entering the club.

Police yesterday appealed for witnesses to the robbery to call Det. Insp.

Jonathan Smith, who is heading the investigation.

Opposition leader Mr. Frederick Wade yesterday pledged a tough crackdown on crime if the PLP form the next Government.

"We believe we must fight crime. The incident which happened at Warwick Workman's Club was frightening,'' he said at a Press conference.

"The two persons injured were two of our members. We would like to see these sorts of things addressed.''
