Veteran family doctor Eugene Harvey to be honoured

Former practitioner Eugene Harvey will be honoured by Bermuda Health Foundation at this year's Salute To Service Award event.

Dr. Harvey, who retired from his medical practice in 1999 after more than 30 years of service, is director of Keep Bermuda Beautiful and a volunteer at the Barn, run by Bermuda Hospitals Women's Auxiliary.

He will be honoured at a luncheon at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess on Wednesday, June 17.

Previous recipients include Clarence James, Reginald Burrows, Bruce Barritt, Vernon Lambe Sr., Liz Boden and Deputy Premier Paula Cox.

Bermuda Health Foundation has provided almost $200,000 in scholarships to 19 Bermudian students.

Last year, five Bermudian students were awarded $15,000 scholarships.

Tickets for the luncheon are $100.
