Victim's mother – a nurse – describes his wounds for jury

The mother of a man who was allegedly stabbed and beaten told a Supreme Court jury she found her son with six stab wounds in his back and a gash on his face.

Kathy-Ann Albouy said she received a phone call in the early hours of July 10 that her son Kevon was at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital (KEMH).

Ms Albouy, a hospital nurse, said she went to the KEMH immediately.

"I turned my son over because I am a nurse and he had a gash to his left, underneath his left eye. I turned him over to see what had happened to his back and noticed there were six puncture wounds and [at] the back of his head there was a gash as well. They were actively bleeding at that time."

On the opening day of the trial, Mr. Albouy had said three men — Joshua Wolffe, Steven Iris and Leshaun Scott — had attacked him while he sat in his mother's car near Five Star Island, Southampton.

He said the assault continued after he ran into the road, and claimed Wolffe had a knife, Iris a metal chain and padlock, and Scott a broomstick.

Wolffe, of Cockburn Road, Sandys, is the only man on trial. Iris and Scott both admitted wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Ms Albouy told the court officers later moved her car to the Police impound. When she went to get it she noticed there was damage.

"On the visors and above the car, there was what appeared to be blood. There was red stains in the car. There was dents on the outside. There was the broken plastics. The plastics on the front dash were cracked.

"I had a back-up monitor installed and the wires were torn out or cut so they were dangling. My CDs were missing, my cell phone and a few things that I had in the car."

Ms Albouy said the damage to the car was not there the night before when she drove the car and told the court it would have cost more than $5,000 to fix it.

Detective Constable Michael DeSilva also took the stand and told the court he conducted two taped interviews with the defendant.

On the taped interview, Wolffe said: "I can definitely say that I wasn't involved in any way. If anything, I did help him."

The court heard that Wolffe was at his house when a friend called Stefan called him and asked for some 'lib' or smokes.

He said eventually his friends came and moments later, a man rode up on an RC bike and began to exchange words with them. Then a fight broke out that included the victim.

The defendant claimed the attack was a "set up" and said he never stabbed Mr. Albouy or even fought him.

On the tape, Wolffe said Mr. Albouy was probably mad at him because he was "messing with his side thing".

"He said I stabbed him? That's some weird s**t if he has that much hatred for me," Wolffe said when told of the allegations.

"Kevon didn't have nothing for me anyway. He's just upset at that fact. He's just trying to put the blame on me."

The trial continues.
