A central gas station in Warwick has closed, just a few years after it opened.

The Warwick Esso Tigermarket in Middle Road closed its doors on Sunday.

Owners Deborah and Raymond Tannock were unavailable for comment last night.

A sign on the door claims the station will re-open under new managment "with lots of new innovations and plans to provide first class service".

The business is situated on land leased by Esso from the Pembroke Hamilton Club (PHC). PHC agreed a 20-year lease on the land at its Stadium Lane property eight years ago.

Last night PHC president Chris Furbert said the gas station's closure would not affect the football club's finances.

"Esso has a 20-year lease and so it's Esso's property," said Mr. Furbert.

"I think they leased the property out to the owner and so if it hasn't worked out I am sure they will look elsewhere. It doesn't impact on us at all."

When the Warwick Esso Tigermarket opened a couple of years ago it was the ninth Esso gas station in Bermuda.
