While many revellers and sports fans bemoaned the downpours over the Cup Match weekend, Bermuda's water tanks benefited.

Over the course of the four-day holiday 3.3 inches of rain fell, according to the official measurements from the Bermuda Weather Service bringing July's total up to 5.3 inches of rain. The measurements are collected at L.F. Wade International Airport in St. George's.

But local water engineer Ian Saunders, who tracks rainfall across the Island, said Pembroke collected nine inches while both Paget and Southampton recorded more than five inches. The rain was a welcome relief for those who have been impacted by a prolonged period without rain which began in May.

The lack of rain resulted in Government restricting the time truckers could access water from some of its facilities. A request to Government about whether or not the restrictions have been lifted due to the rainfall was not answered.
