Breaking News: Police name shooting victim

Police officers cordon off an area in Peacock Crescent Sandy’s where a 24 year old man was shot and killed in the early hours of Friday morning.
Twenty-four-year-old Dekimo Martin was shot dead this morning — the fifth gun killing this year.Police were called to Peacock Crescent, in Sandys, at 1.07 a.m. today after reports of gunshots.A Police spokesman said: “As a result, a 24-year-old Sandys parish man was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries. A full investigation has commenced and no further information will be given until the next of kin has been notified.”

Police were called to Peacock Crescent, in Sandys, at 1.07 a.m. today after reports of gunshots.

A Police spokesman said: “As a result, a 24-year-old Sandys parish man was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries. A full investigation has commenced and no further information will be given until the next of kin has been notified.”

Overseas forensic specialists have been gathering evidence and the family of Mr. Martin has been interviewed. Police are investigating a number of leads and would not say if the shooting was gang-related.

Mr. Martin, who had no children, was recently released from prison and family members said he has spent the last four months looking to turn his life around.
