Changes favour PLP victory at next General Election

Progressive Labour Party MP Glenn Blakeney saw his margin of victory nearly cut in half in Devonshire North Central at the last General Election.

Mr. Blakeney beat Albertha Waite of the United Bermuda Party by 433 votes to 376 in 2007, to hang on to the seat he won more convincingly four years earlier, when he defeated the UBP's Hilary Soares 416 to 311.

The UBP had been planning to target the seat at the next election, but political observers say electoral boundary changes make that area a safer bet for the PLP.
