Drink-driver dropped bike on his female passenger
A man caught drink-driving dropped his motorcycle on his female passenger when Police stopped him, Magistrates' Court heard yesterday.
Paul Waldburger, 26, of Inghams Vale Road, Pembroke, pleaded guilty to driving while impaired by alcohol on February 17.
Police spotted Waldburger, riding with a female passenger on the back of his bike, at the Esso City Tigermarket on the corner of Richmond and Par-La-Ville roads in Pembroke. He was travelling in a westbound direction and was seen swerving from side to side, occasionally into the opposite lane.
Police stopped Waldburger at Mills Creek Road, where they watched him get off the cycle and allow it to fall to the ground on top of the female passenger seated on the back.
Police smelled liquor on his breath and asked him if he had been drinking. Waldburger told Police he'd had five beers, but asked them to give him a break. A sample of his breath was taken for analysis, and the lower reading showed that Waldburger had 118mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood. The legal limit is 80mg/100ml.
He was given a $1,000 fine, ten demerit points and disqualified from all vehicles for 12 months.
