Ex- Policeman charged with accessing child porn
A 41-year-old Policeman was yesterday charged with 14 counts of accessing child pornography.
The man appeared in Magistrates' Court, where he was also charged with one count of knowingly making child pornography.
The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was not required to enter a plea. The charges are indictable and must be heard in Supreme Court.
He was accused of knowingly accessing child pornography on more than a dozen occasions, between November 9, 2008, and October 14, 2009. It is alleged that he accessed pictures and videos of children engaged in explicit sexual behaviours and sexual activity during that time.
The single count of making child pornography stems from allegations that the man reproduced 17 backup discs containing child pornography, on September 25, 2009.
Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner released the man on $15,000 bail with one surety. He was ordered to return to court on December 21.
