Injured bike passenger is critical

The victim of a weekend road accident continued to fight for his life in the intensive care unit last night.

The 44-year-old man, from Devonshire, sustained serious head injuries when he was riding pillion on a motorcycle on Harbour Road late on Saturday.

According to the Police, the bike was heading west when the passenger's head collided with a utility pole.

The 39-year-old Sandys man who was riding the motorcycle was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving.

The Police reported on Sunday that the injured man was likely to be flown off the Island for treatment due to the serious nature of his injuries.

However, a spokeswoman for King Edward VII Memorial hospital said last night that he was still there and in a critical condition in the ICU.

Meanwhile another man injured on the roads at the weekend was out of the ICU and recovering on a ward yesterday.

The 59-year-old, from St. George's, lost control of his motorcycle and collided with a wall on North Shore Road, Hamilton Parish, on Saturday evening.

He suffered a fractured pelvis.
