Poll finds PLP still–ahead with voters
According to a poll released yesterday, if a vote were to be held today, the PLP would receive fewer votes, but still win the election.
The Profiles of Bermuda Poll states that if an election were held today, the ruling PLP would win 38 percent of the vote, while 49 percent of those polled stated that they had voted for the party in the last election.
Despite the downturn in PLP votes, the polls results also indicate that the UBP has failed to gain any ground.
According to the poll, 31 percent would vote for the UBP today, about the same as the 32 percent who said they voted UBP in the last election.
The PLP's support comes largely from Black voters and younger voters, with 94 percent of PLP voters being Black, and 58 percent between the ages of 18 and 34.
The UBP's voting base according to the poll is older and whiter, with 61 percent of UBP voters being White or Other, and 40 percent of their voters are 55 and over.
Gender and Income, according to the poll, showed little to no impact on a voters decision.
The poll, conducted among 401 voters between June 17 and 19, has a reported margin of error of 4.9 percent.
