Roads advisory issued for Boat Parade
The motoring public are advised that roads in Hamilton will be closed for the Christmas Boat Parade on Saturday.
According to the Corporation of Hamilton, Albouy's Point and Point Pleasant Road will be closed after 4 p.m. to allow spectators to take their places for the parade.
The parking lane on the south side of Front Street from Parliament Street to Point Pleasant Road will also be barricaded to provide a safe pedestrian walkway before and during the event.
This means there will be no parking on that side of Front Street, that the horse and carriages cannot occupy the horse canopy and taxis cannot use the taxi stand outside No. 1 car park from 4 to 9 p.m.
Buses will also have to stop just west of the flagpole to exit passengers, said a Corporation spokesperson.
No. 1 and No. 5 car parks will also be closed after 4 p.m. and all cars must be out by that time. All other car parks in the city will be available for parking free of charge after 5 p.m.
Special arrangements will have to be made for the disabled and elderly to view the boat parade.
