Three muggings on Wednesday

Four men were were robbed on Wednesday night in three separate incidents, including a 56-year-old Southampton man who was taken to King EdwardVII Memorial Hospital.

At 11.35 p.m. on Wednesday evening a 56-year-old man was walking on Granaway Heights Road in Southampton near the junction with Middle Road when he was struck from behind and knocked unconscious by a stranger.

The man awoke to find that his wallet and a quantity of cash and his keys were stolen. He was taken to KEMH and treated for injuries to the face.

At 10.20 p.m. the same evening Police received a report of a robbery in the parking lot at Elbow Beach Hotel.

The victims, a 20-year-old Paget man and a 19-year-old Sandys man, were robbed of their cell phones by a man brandishing a bladed weapon.

The suspect is described as being a brown-skinned male in his early 20s, approximately 5'5" tall and of slim build.

He was wearing dark coloured long pants and a white t-shirt, was clean shaven and had a close haircut at the time of the offence.

Any witnesses of these incidents are asked to contact the Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.

Police are also appealing for witnesses to an assault early on Wednesday when a visitor was struck and robbed on Pitts Bay Road.

The 53-year-old man from New Jersey said that around 2 a.m. he was walking near Barr's Bay Park when a white car pulled up behind him.

An unknown man then got out of the car and approached the visitor demanding money.

A brief struggle took place, during which the victim was punched in the face.

The 53-year-old New Jersey man sustained redness around his left eye and abrasions to his left arm in the attack but declined medical treatment.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately five feet eight inches tall of medium build with a close haircut.

He was wearing a white, black and grey-striped shirt, long pants and dark-coloured sneakers.

Police are especially appealing for anyone who may have seen a taxi travelling along Pitts Bay Road or who may have seen a silver or white Peugeot 206 car make a U-turn on Pitts Bay Road around the time of the incident to come forward.

And Police are also seeking witnesses to a disturbance that took place at Colonial Insurance on Reid Street in the City of Hamilton around 4 p.m. on Wednesday involving three or four men.

Police said the cause of the disturbance is unclear at the moment; however, one of the men involved was taken into Police custody at the scene.
