Trenching work closes Hamilton roads

There will be a number of road closures this weekend while trenching work continues on Reid Street, announced the Corporation of Hamilton.

King Street between Church Street and Spurling Hill will be reduced to one lane traffic for motorists leaving Hamilton from tonight at 7 p.m. until Sunday at 7 p.m.

However Reid Street, Cavendish Road and Spurling Hill will all be accessible to traffic leaving Hamilton via King Street.

In addition, Reid Street, between King and Court Streets will be accessible to businesses and emergency vehicles from King Street.

The following streets will be closed to traffic from tomorrow night starting at 7 p.m.:

— King Street between Reid and Front Streets will only be accessible to businesses from Front Street.

— Spurling Hill from East Broadway for all westbound traffic.

— Cavendish Road will be closed to westbound traffic between Cavendish Road parking lot and Shelton Road, except for local access. And traffic travelling into Hamilton along Middle Road should divert at Shelton Road, Montpelier Road or Corkscrew Hill.

Tomorrow, the following streets will be affected by the trenching work.

— Southbound traffic on King Street will be able to drive onto Reid Street (both easterly and westerly directions) and also continue to Front Street between 7 a.m. Saturday morning until Sunday evening at 7 p.m.

— Spurling Hill will be closed to traffic, however East Broadway will be accessible via King Street.

— Cavendish Road will remain closed to all westbound traffic, however, eastbound traffic will still have access.

On Sunday, the following streets will be affected by road works:

— Southbound traffic on King Street will be able to proceed onto Reid Street (both easterly and westerly directions) and also continue onto Front Street from 7 a.m. Saturday morning until Sunday evening at 7 p.m.

— Spurling Hill will be closed to all traffic until 7 p.m. and Cavendish Road will remain closed to all westbound traffic until the same time, although eastbound traffic will have access.
