Western Division Police to hold public meeting

The Western Division of the Bermuda Police Service will meet with members of the public this evening to discuss policing in the area.The meeting will be held at 7pm at the Port Royal Primary School on Church Road.Western Commanding Officer, Acting Chief Inspector Mark Clarke, and other members of the division will discuss recent accomplishments and their vision for the next six months.A police spokesman said: “In a collaborative effort towards making the community safer, the feedback, ideas and attendance of area residents is very important to us.“We look forward to seeing as many as possible at the meeting.”l For more information, contact Western Community Action Team officers Constable Valerius Jean Louis on 717-2305 or Constable Cerepha Bridgeman at 717-2386.Witness appeal issued for road deathPolice are appealing for witnesses to a traffic collision that caused the death of devoted father Timothy Pedro last week.Mr Pedro, 49, died after a collision outside Island Construction in Devonshire, where he had worked.Anyone who may have seen the collision at the junction of Middle Road and Parsons Road, or who may have any information about the accident, is encouraged to call PC Steven Darrell on 299-4388.Six arrested on suspicion of drunk drivingPolice arrested six people on suspicion of drunk driving over the weekend, and another 24 for outstanding warrants.Officers also carried out 33 liquor licence checks at premises across the Island.
