Safe drivers to be rewarded

Freisenbruch-Meyer is to reward safe drivers with air miles or a gift certificate as part of Alcohol Awareness Month. The company has partnered with anti-drink driving group CADA on the initiative, which is intended to encourage responsible behaviour throughout April. The scheme applies to new clients purchasing a motor policy from Freisenbruch-Meyer Group between now and May. They will be awarded 5,000 air miles if they have a Butterfield Advantage card, or a $100 gift certificate to the Phoenix Stores provided they have a 60 percent no claims discount.Business development officer Antonia Mills explained: “It is difficult to determine if someone is a safe driver but the no claims discount provides one avenue to do so.“This discount is standard for underwriting motor insurance. The fewer claims you have, the higher the discount, with a maximum discount of 60 percent.”CADA chairman Anthony Santucci said that he hoped the initiative would encourage more drivers to think twice before getting behind the wheel while under the influence.“The vast majority of deaths on Bermuda’s roads can be attributed to alcohol and or drug use,” he said. “I believe the programme will reward people for not drinking and driving and will encourage them to consider CADA’s message of ABCD always use bus, cab or designated driver.”l Useful websites: www.cada.bm, www.fmgroup.bm
