Amnesty International celebrating 50 years of fighting for human rights

The Bermuda branch of Amnesty International will celebrate the organisation’s 50th anniversary this month.Bermudian human rights activists will speak at Amnesty’s ‘birthday bash’ on May 28, billed as ‘an open-air, family-oriented celebration’. The celebration will have “a cross-section of Bermudian entertainers”, Amnesty Bermuda director Robyn Skinner said, plus an art project for children and letters to be signed by guests.It will be held on the field behind Kaleidoscope, at the corner of Jubilee Road and Parsons Lane. Doors open at 5.30pm. Tickets, available at www.bdatix.bm, are $40 for non-members, $30 for members and $15 for students; they will cost $50 at the door, or $25 for students. Tickets are also available from All Wrapped Up, The Money Shop and Fabulous Fashions.
