Teenager charged over pit bull attack

A 19-year-old Devonshire man has appeared in Magistrates' Court in connection with Friday's pit bull attack on a Government animal warden.Jahmieko Perkins, of Schools Drive, has been charged with intentionally causing grievous bodily harm by unlawfully wounding Jeffrey Shaw on May 27.Mr Perkins is also accused of being the person in charge of a pit bull terrier that caused injury to a person.Police shot the dog dead after the alleged incident.He was not required to enter a plea, as his case must be dealt with by the Supreme Court.Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner granted Mr Perkins bail of $10,000, and ordered him to return to court on June 13.The Royal Gazette understands that Mr Shaw remains off work.
