Twenty-eight young Bermudians will travel to Germany this week as part of the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award programme.For two weeks they will travel throughout the country, with an itinerary that includes visits to the cities of Heidelberg and Osterburken and an expedition in Naturpark Sudschwarzwald in the Black Forest.“It has been six months since both participants and leaders began expedition and physical training in preparation for the intense journey that lies ahead,” said a statement from the Duke of Edinburgh programme in Bermuda.“In fact, they joined the Walking Club of Bermuda, learned first aid and expedition skills, staged overnight practice camps and even participated in the annual End-to-End Charity Walk with their full rucksacks on.“On behalf of the Award in Bermuda, we wish them the safest and most enjoyable of journeys!”
