Armed robbery sends victims, thieves to hospital

A man is now being treated in hospital after he and a teenage girl were set upon and robbed by armed thugs.According to police the couple were sitting in a parked car on Hermitage Road in Devonshire, when they were attacked around 8.45pm last night.Two men have since been arrested in connection with the incident.Said a spokesman: “It appears that the victims, a man in his 20s and a teenage girl, were sitting in a parked car in the area when they were attacked by a group of unknown men brandishing bladed articles. Afterward their assailants fled the scene with a quantity of jewelry and a cellular phone.“The victims were treated at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital; the teenage girl’s injuries were examined and she was subsequently released, while the male victim remains at the hospital receiving medical attention for a leg wound.”The spokesman said two men in their 20s were arrested at the hospital after seeking treatment for hand injuries.“They also remain at the hospital; their injuries and those of the male victim are considered to be serious but not life-threatening.”Anyone with information is asked to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.
