CoH donates $5,000 to free taxi service

The City of Hamilton has donated $5,000 to the late-night Let Us Drive taxi service.

The programme runs from 3.15am to 3.45am on Friday nights.

Deputy Mayor Glen Smith commended the initiative, which gives people on the town late on Friday nights a “safe, free and reliable way to get home”.

The service runs from outside the LOM building at the corner of Reid and Burnaby Streets.

CADA director Gillian Freelove-Jones said it was the second year the City has aided the programme.

“It is impossible to quantify how many lives will be saved as a result of this donation,” she said.
