Vance Campbell to run for PLP in Smith's West

Former Bermuda Housing Corporation boss Vance Campbell was today named as the PLP candidate for Constituency Nine, Smith's West.Premier Paula Cox announced Mr Campbell's candidacy, describing him as a young man prepared to make a difference for the community.Mr Campbell served as general manager of the Bermuda Housing Corporation from 2003 to 2006, and is now the chief financial officer for SAL Trading Limited and chairman of the Consumer Affairs Board.He said he chose to throw his hat into the political arena so that he might help shape the Island for the next generation.“As a father and someone who volunteers with several organisations that focus on the young people of Bermuda, I felt obligated to become involved in the political process that will continue to shape the Bermuda our children will inherit,” he said.“I believe my education and business background, along with community involvement and life experiences, have prepared me well for this step.”Mr Campbell does not live in the constituency but said he has friends and family who do, and travels through it on a daily basis.“To the constituents of Constituency Nine, Smith's West, I look forward to meeting you, hearing your concerns and discussing, formulating and affecting solutions,” he said.“My office will be your streets and neighbourhoods as we work to ‘build one another together.”
