Man charged with woman’s murder
A man charged with murdering a woman whose body was found in the sea pleaded not guilty this morning.David DeSilva, 46, is alleged to have killed Denise Evans-Wilkinson some time from April 26 onwards.Her body was discovered in the water off the coast of Mill Point Road in Pembroke on April 29.Mr DeSilva of Tulo Lane, Pembroke, was remanded into custody until a further court hearing on January 3.Meanwhile two American women admitted plotting to import more than $400,000 of cannabis resin on a cruise ship.Alloah Releford, 23, from Temple, Georgia, and 27-year-old Latoya Powell, of Marietta, Georgia, are responsible for 2.7 kg of the drug being brought into Bermuda on October 8.The value of the resin is said by prosecutors to be $406,550 on the streets of Bermuda. The women will be sentenced at a later date to be fixed on January 3, and were remanded into custody until then.Both cases were dealt with during the monthly arraignment session at Supreme Court.
