Arnold’s Tile & Building Supplies Limited has closed its doors after almost to 30 years in the business.The tile store wound up its business on December 31 due to the poor economy.Arnold’s Tile, located on Mill Reach Lane in Pembroke, offered a wide selection of tiling products as well as commercial and residential building supplies, priding itself on being “one of the Island’s most respected and trustworthy companies”.“It was strictly due to economics, we just had no business,” said Colin Hassell, the store’s general manager, who added that the company was down to four employees at the end. “It’s not something we wanted to do, we were doing everything we could. Another institution down the drain.”The company recently redesigned its multi-level showroom on Mill Reach Lane, Pembroke, however, the building was owned by Bermuda Forwarders.
