Road to be repaired in ten days

Repairs to a collapsed section of Somerset Road by Ely’s Harbour public dock in Sandys should be completed in the next ten days.

The road was cordoned off after caving in over the weekend.

A Ministry of Public Works spokesman said: “An inspection of the wall found that as a result of wave action and road drainage run-off a void had formed in part of the wall supporting the road.

“Work is scheduled to take ten working days so should be complete Friday, February 24. As a precaution, and in order to carry out the work safely, a permanent lane closure will remain in place until work is complete.”

The road west of Scaur Hill will be repaired soon.
