Missing cabbie turns up safe

A taxi driver prompted an appeal from police after he went missing on Thursday, but turned up safe and well on Saturday.

William Peniston, 58, of St David’s, was last seen on Thursday evening.

Police issued an appeal for help to find him on Saturday afternoon.

According to Raymond Robinson, president of BTA dispatching where Mr Peniston worked, police asked the company to check its records.

“His last job was on Thursday evening, I know it ended up in Devonshire somewhere and that’s the last time I believe anyone had seen him or the taxi since Thursday, explained Mr Robinson yesterday afternoon.

Later yesterday, however, police confirmed Mr Peniston had been located safe and well.

“The Bermuda Police Service would like to thank the public for their assistance,” said a spokesman.
