Motorcyclist injured after crash with SUV

A motorcyclist was injured in a collision with an SUV in Warwick last night leaving the road closed and the victim in hospital.

A police spokesman said the emergency services attended the collision at the junction of South Road and Tribe Road No1 around 9.15pm.

“It appears that an auxiliary cycle was travelling along South Road and a SUV was travelling along Tribe Road No 1 when the vehicles collided at the junction,” said the spokesman.

“The auxiliary cycle rider was injured and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment.

“The rider's injuries were initially thought to be serious; however a subsequent check at the hospital indicated that the injuries do not appear to be life threatening at this time.”

Traffic was diverted away from the scene as inquiries got underway. Witnesses should contact the Roads Policing Unit on 295-0011.
