Strong winds cancel American Airlines flights

Two American Airlines flights arrived in Bermuda this morning from New York and Miami, after crosswinds and thunderstorms forced cancellations last night.
A spokesman at the Bermuda Weather Service confirmed that wind gusts of up to 35 knots last night moved southwesterly, making for stronger crosswinds. The gusts were directly linked to a cold front that passed from the US eastern seaboard to the local area.
A trough behind that system caused thunderstorms and lightning across the Island last night.
A spokesman at LF Wade International Airport confirmed that both American Airlines flights are due in from New York and Miami on schedule this evening.
