Veterinarians are desperately seeking the owner of a cat that hitched a taxi ride in the vehicle's engine compartment. The driver dropped the animal off at Endsmeet Animal Hospital covered in oil but otherwise excellent shape. The veterinarians cleaned him up and nicknamed him 'Taxi'.According to Endsmeet vet Jennifer Fullerton, no one is certain how the cat found its way into the car.The driver was alerted to its presence by a funny sound he heard coming from under the car's hood.“[Our] receptionist took him out,” said Dr Fullerton. “He was in excellent shape but all covered in oil. We washed him up, gave him food and we're taking good care of him.”The male cat was neutered and obviously well cared for but without a microchip, finding its owner has proven difficult.“We assumed someone is missing their cat; we even called Ettrick Animal Hospital to let them know in case anyone is looking to find him.He appeared to be well fed, and he loves a lot of attention he even purred at the [Royal Gazette] photographer who came down here to photograph him.”She continued: “The cat has a lovely temperament and it looks like he was well loved by his own family his fur is in good condition; it really looks like he's from a nice home.”The hospital has had at least one offer to adopt the cat, Dr Fullerton said.“Before we do that we still want to know if the owners are out there looking for him.”
