TV broadcasts hit by storm
An electrical storm this week left Bermuda Broadcasting Company viewers with little more to watch than a blank screen.Residents contacted The Royal Gazette after stations went off the air on Monday night ZBM didn’t rebroadcast its evening news at midnight and ZFB was off the air well into yesterday.Contacted by The Royal Gazette, BBC CEO Rick Richardson said via e-mail: “There was an electrical storm that has caused outages with BBC and WOW. From speaking with my engineer I understand all of our facilities were hit. He has managed to get our radio stations and one TV station back on the air. At the moment there is damage to the satellite receiver and he is working to revive both feeds to cable.”It was yesterday unclear when all of the problems would be resolved however Bermuda Broadcasting was working to get them fixed as soon as possible, he added.
