Airline passenger taken to hospital

An ambulance met a plane on the runway at the airport last night after a passenger suffered a suspected asthma attack en route to Bermuda.The female patient, aged 56, was rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, after being taken ill on American Airlines Flight 308 from Miami.Airport Duty Officer Gavin Kennedy said: “A medical technician on board assisted her and the flight landed normally. There was no emergency declared. As is normal procedure when there is a request for medical assistance, we had an ambulance on standby.”The flight, which was due in at 8.05pm, touched down slightly late at 8.10pm.
