Staff at Island Glass this year elected to forego their Christmas party this year in favour of supporting local charities.A company spokeswoman said: “Island Glass has had its share of challenges this year, with the economic situation the way it has been.“But when it came around to booking out a restaurant for our Christmas lunch, we discussed with our staff members opting out of having a lunch and donating the funds we would have spent, to charity.”The staff took a vote, and unanimously decided to donate the money to charity.In total, the staff donated $2,000 to charities including the Coalition for the Protection of Children’s Breakfast Programme, PALS, YouthNet and the Eliza DoLittle Society.
